Ghana's Quincy Owusu-Abeyie was instrumental in helping Birmingham overcome Cardiff's challenge as the Blues went on to win 2-1 in the Championship.

The Black Stars attacker set up the first goal and scored the second after some electrifying display of pace that had the Cardiff back line struggling to cope all afternoon.

Quincy left his marker on the edge of the Cardiff City penalty box way behind and played a clever diagonal ball to James McFadden to score.

Then it was the turn of the Ghanaian to put his side in the lead. Owusu-Abeyie gave the Blues a two-goal lead from a 20-yard effort that went through a crowd and past goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

Ross McCormack gave Cardiff hope with four minutes left, when he scored, but Birmingham held on.
