Ghana striker, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie would make a return to Russia after completing his loan deal with Birmingham.

The Blues have decided not to extend the player's initial six-month loan deal after it expired.

Quincy made 13 appearances this season, scoring three goals.

Owusu-Abeyie's last outing for the Blues was in the 0-0 draw against Swansea at St Andrews last month.

Alex McLeish, Birmingham manager says the money freed up by the 22-year-old's departure could now be spent on bringing in new players during the transfer window.

"We thank Quincy for his efforts and wish him well for the future," McLeish told the club's official website.

"Having made this decision we will now continue to strengthen the squad.

"His deal was an expensive one for just one player and we will now look to use the money to bring in new faces."
