After months of anticipation, the wait is over for the final 16 teams gearing up for the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup as they find out their opponents in the opening group games.

Sixteen flags representing 16 footballing nations had been flying at the colourful ceremony which took place in Wuhan, a sprawling eastern metropolis of eight million people but now, the all the flags have been paired into four different groups.

And Ghana finally knows the task ahead now after the balls were drawn into the four pots on Sunday for the World Cup which kicks off on September 10-30 2007.

The Black Queens one the qualified teams is handed a Group C place with Norway, Australia and Canada as the World Cup return to China, inaugural hosts in 1991.

In Group A, reigning world and European champions Germany face the challenge posed by Japan, England and Argentina.

Hosts China PR have landed in a similarly intriguing and challenging Group D, where they will cross swords with New Zealand, Brazil and Denmark.

Group B will see Sweden and USA, silver and bronze medalists respectively at the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup, lock horns, while Nigeria and Korea DPR will also be vying to progress from the pool.

Since 1991, the women’s World Cup has tried to build a reputation and a fan base to rival the men and with the fifth edition of the World Cup a key event, Ghana will seek to add up to the excitement as the Black Queens contend for the title for a third successive time at the World Cup.
