Ghana have missed the chance to make their debut at the Women's Olympic Football Tournament at the 2008 Beijing Games.
The Black Queens failed to secure victory in the play-off match after losing 5-1 to Brazil in the last remaining qualifier at the Workers Stadium in the Chinese capital on Saturday.
Anita Amankwah got Ghana's consolation in the 76th minute when she connected a long ball from defence.
Marta opened the scoring in the 19th minute for the Canarinha before Cristiane made it 2-0 just before the interval.
Aline, Cristiane and Rosana added second-half goals to give them a comfortable lead and a place at the Beijing Games before Ghana got a consolation goal.
Ghana coach, Mumuni Gamel though disappointed shared some positives after the game.
"Sure, we lost, but the game gave us a chance to play against one of the best teams in the world," Gamel said.
"It's good experience for us and some of our younger players will gain immensely from this game."
