Queens await Championship draw

After earning their place in the next African Women’s Championship, the Black Queens would today find out their group opponents as the draw for the competition comes off in South Africa.

For Ghana, it would be a 7th appearance after the Black Queens beat Senegal to pick their spot at the Championship.

Ghana together with Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa have participated in every single edition of the tourney since 1998.

Tuesday's draw would see the eight participating teams including teams including hosts South Africa await the identities of their opponents for the competition slated for 31 October -14 November.

The other qualified teams are holders, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Algeria, Mali, Cameroon and Tanzania.

The draw will place the eight teams into two groups, with every group member playing the other as the group winners and runners-up advance to the semi final.

The champions and runners-up will represent the Africa at next edition of the FIFA Women’s World slated for Germany from 26 June to 17 July, 2011.
