Ghana international, Jonathan Quartey is hoping win a contract at Bristol City after the English side invited him for trials.

The trial offer made available to the Black Stars defender was confirmed by his South African club, Kaizer Chiefs.

Quartey, according to Chiefs boss Bobby Motaung, will spend a week at Ashton Gate in a bid to win a move to City and play in the Coca-Cola Football League Championship.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Europe in the past with Robins boss Gary Johnson will now cast an eye over him as he looks to bolster his squad.

"Jonathan left the country last night (Wednesday) for a seven-day trial with Bristol City. The club is looking for two defenders and they approached us about the player," Motaung told the Chiefs' official website.

"It is not our policy to stand in the player's way when an overseas opportunity comes up. Jonathan has shown a lot of potential since joining the team last season and we wish him all the best during the trial," Motaung.
