Jonathan Quartey would miss the chance to earn a possible third cap for Ghana after injury ruled him out of contention for a call up into the Black Stars.

The central defender who has played in two successive games for Ghana sprained his ankle whiles playing for club side, Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa.

He becomes the second Black Stars player after Michael Essien to miss the game because of injury.

Quartey, who was not included in Ghana’s team for the final 2010 World Cup qualifying match against Lesotho at home has started slow jogging and stability work after the injury.

Ghana plays Lesotho on October 11 at the Sekondi Sports Stadium in the final game of the joint 2010 World Cup and African Nations qualifying campaign.
