Princesses drawn for debut World Cup

Ghana have been paired with USA in Thursday's FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup draw in Dresden.

The Black Princesses drawn in Group D will also pit their strengths against Switzerland and Korea Republic in the competition for for a place in the quarter-finals.

The draw presided over by Tatjana Haenni, FIFA's Head of Women's competitions, had six high-profile players from the world of women's football, including Ghana's Adjoa Bayor joining in.

Coach Kuuku Dadzie's side will be making their debut in Germany picking one of Africa's two places.

The competition kicks off two days after the finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Nigeria, the other team from the continent earned a place in group C which has England, Mexico and Japan.

Hosts Germany are up against Costa Rica, Colombia and France in Group A.

Group B includes Brazil, former champions Korea DPR, European giants Sweden and New Zealand.

The 16 teams were split into four groups of four, with the top two teams from each group going through to the quarter-finals.

The teams were drawn into the following groups:

Group A: Germany (hosts), Costa Rica, Colombia and France

Group B: Brazil, Korea DPR, Sweden, New Zealand

Group C: England, Nigeria, Mexico, Japan

Group D: USA, Ghana, Switzerland, Korea Republic
