Looking to bounce back to stay in contention for a last 16 place and securing safe passage to the next round is what awaits both Ghana and Germany in Fortaleza on Saturday.

Either side are aware that that is what victory in their meeting will seek to achieve when they kick off at 19:00GMT.

The pressure is on despite both sides recording contrasting results in their opening games after the Germans picked up a big win.

Ghana made their World Cup bow in Brazil in defeat on Monday, leaving them with all to play for to save their campaign.

Though the result against the United States had proved costly, the Black Stars will fancy their chances of getting back on track in Saturday's Group G clash against the Germans at the Estadio Castelao.

Expectations are running high on either side in their quest for victory in a very competitive group.

Having watched Germany come through their first game with a thumping 4-0 win over Portugal, Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah expects the Black Stars to be ready for the crucial game.

"It’s not going to be easy to qualify from the group, but we’ll give everything to do just that," Appiah said.

"We’re going to have to play well against Germany and I know we’ll give them a good game."

For the three-time World Cup winners, Germany, who beat Ghana 1-0 the 2010 World Cup group stage, their opening win could count for nothing if they succumb to Ghana.

At the last World Cup, Germany won their opening match 4-0 against Australia before losing to Serbia 1-0.

"We need to take the teamwork, confidence and enthusiasm we had in the opening match into the Ghana match," said captain Phillip Lahm.

To whet the appetite ahead of Saturday's clash will be the reunion of the Boateng brothers who will line up on opposite sides again after their first duel four year ago.

Kevin-Prince meets his brother, Germany defender Jérôme.
