Ghana are eager to reach their second Africa Cup of Nations final in three years but must first get past Burkina Faso in the semi-final on Wednesday.

Both teams are meeting in the last four for the first at the Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday with kick off at 18:30 GMT.

The pre-match attention has been focused on the surface of the pitch in Nelspruit with the Stallions expected to be more comfortable as they are set to play their fifth consecutive match at the stadium, according to their coach Paul Put.

Ghana were not allowed to train on the pitch for fear of making the surface even worse.

But Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah explains that, though the pitch conditions can influence his team's approach to the game, it will not be a distraction for his players.

“I have been thinking about it. Looking at the pitch, you may have to change your tactical play or change individuals to make sure that you are able to cope with the situation,” Appiah said.

“We have similar and even much worse pitches back home and we do play on it. Once we get there, we get the feeling and see how things are, we will make sure that we perform to the level needed.”

For Put, his Stallions who are looking to reach their first-ever Nations Cup final can handle the Ghanaian challenge.

"Ghana is another challenge but we're going to approach it in the same way as the other games.

"We have the quality to compete with every team in this tournament. But we need focus and determination," the Burkina Faso coach said.
