Ghana's young breed of stars face a crunch game against Angola in the quarter-finals on Sunday as they attempt to deliver a second successive semi-final place at the African Nations Cup.

An injury hit Black Stars team dominated by several players who won the Under-20 World Cup in October know they can match the successes of the team that won bronze in the previous competition hosted back in Ghana, two years ago.

But Ghana are aware that the stakes are high at this stage of the competition and importantly it coming against the hosts, Angola, at the November 11 Stadium in Luanda.

“I respect Angola. They are a good team but we shall give our best on Sunday.

“I have faith in my youthful players and so far they have proved to be good fighters,” said Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac.

Ghana qualified from Group B after a stuttering start to set up a date with the hosts, who are expected to enjoy the support of a partisan crowd at the stadium on Sunday.

But Rajevac is undaunted by the intimidating presence of the home support.

“We are aware of Angola’s home advantage, but that will not intimidate us.”

Angola will have top striker Flavio available for the game, coach Manuel Jose said on Saturday.

The Palancas Negras reached the last eight of the competition two years ago but have never made the semi-finals.

“This is the best opportunity yet,” the Portuguese-born Jose told a news conference. “The game is bigger than the match that took Angola to the last World Cup.”

The last meeting between both sides was during an international friendly on November 18, 2009 at the Estadio Cidadela which ended goalless.
