President Simeon-Okraku arrives at Winkogo to commission Technical Centre

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has arrived at Winkogo ahead of the official commissioning of the Winkogo Technical Centre (Artificial Pitch).

The President was met on arrival by Alhaji Salifu Zida, Chairman of the Upper East Regional Football Association and his Executive Council.

Other dignitaries included, Alhaji Yahaya Sadugu, Chairman, Upper West Regional Football Association, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo, Northern Regional Football Association Chairman and Alhaji Munkaila, former Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association.

The Centre is located at Winkogo in the Bolgatanga District of the Upper East Region.

The first phase of the project was completed and handed over to the Ghana Football Association last month with the second and third phase set to commence next month.

President Simeon-Okraku will be joined by members of the Executive Council, Upper East Regional Minister Hon. Stephen Yakubu, Overlord of Talensi Traditional area Raana Naab Kugbil Namaltang, Chairmen of the 10-Regional Football Associations and other football officials to commission the project on Friday.

The Winkogo Technical Centre will serve as administrative office complex for the Upper East Regional Football Association, a Game Centre for the Regional Juvenile League and venue for the Regional Women’s Division One League. The Centre can also host Division One League and Premier League games when fully completed.

The project is fully funded by proceeds from the FIFA Forward 1.0.
