President John Agyekum Kufuor is praying for a Ghana victory on Wednesday when the Black Stars play Benin in the finals of the Zenith Bank four-nation football tournament.

The President's goodwill message to the senior national football team said, it hoped the 2-0 win over Togo in the same competition marks the beginning of a good run for the team in the coming months.

He also added that victory over Benin to lift the ultimate Cup is a necessary prelude to the upcoming African Cup of Nations to be staged in Ghana next year.

“I’ve no doubt that you can do it to inspire yourselves and to assure all Ghanaians that you are capable of winning the African Cup of Nations in 2008,” a Presidential statement read.

Ghana plays Benin in the finals of the mini tournament on Wednesday at the Ohene Djan Sports stadium.

A win for the team would see the Black Stars pick the $70,000 prize money, reserved for the winner of the competition.
