President Akufo Addo visits Black Stars ahead of Portugal clash

President of the Republic of Ghana His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid a visit to the Black Stars ahead of their opening match against Portugal on Thursday.

Nana Akufo-Addo is in Doha for the Group H opener and took the opportunity to inspire the players ahead of the big clash.

He was accompanied by Youth and Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif (Hon.) Ghana’s Ambassador to Qatar, H.E Mohamed Noureddine Ismail and other government officials.

The entourage was received by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, Vice President Mark Addo and Executive Council Member Dr. Ransford Abbey.

Others included former Ghanaian International defenders Samuel Osei Kuffuor and Anthony Bafoe.

President Akufo Addo urged the players to give their all and make the country proud at the tournament currently ongoing in Qatar.

The Black Stars are making a return to the World Cup after edging rivals Nigeria in the playoffs in March this year having failed to make a representation in Russia in 2018.

The match against Portugal which is slated for the 974 stadium will kick off at 19:00 (16:00 GMT).
