After a long hold up, the new football season is here with us with players and Clubs geared up for the First Capital Plus Premier League which kicks off this weekend.

Fans frustrated by the delay will finally have the chance to see their teams and some new signings beginning with two games on Saturday and the bulk on Sunday.

And to kick start the season, the Hearts of Oak who will be challenging for the title will begin match-day-1 of the league away from home as they continue to serve suspension from last season.

The Phobians will host newly promoted West African Football Academy - WAFA - at the Kpando Park on Saturday as they bid for the title.

After guiding Inter Allies out of relegation and to the finals of last season's FA Cup, Herbert Addo, who won the league in his first season at Hearts of Oak in 2002 returns to the hot seat for the campaign and lots will be expected from the experienced coach in his opening game.

At the Coronation Park, B.A. United handled by former international Frimpong Manso will be hoping to get their opening fixture off to a great start when they welcome Bechem United to Sunyani.

Then on Sunday, champions Asante Kotoko begin their title defence as they travel to the Agyemang Badu Park to face Aduana Stars.

Kotoko, who were very busy in the transfer market will be eager to thrill their expectant fans following their massive recruitment when they open the season in a game which which go either way.

Heart of Lions after enjoying their best campaign last season when they finished second will attempt to replicate that form when they host New Edubiase at the Kpando Park.

Elsewhere, Great Olympics will attempt to put in a wonderful performance on their return to the elite division as they travel to the Len Clay Stadium to face AshantiGold.

At the Tema Stadium, Inter Allies will take on Medeama while Hasaacas welcome Liberty Professionals to the Essipong Stadium.

Berekum Chelsea will try to put behind them a difficult past after flirting with relegation last season when they arrive at the Wa Park to play Wa AllStars.
