Bibiani Gold Stars FC’s pursuit of the Premier League summit suffered a setback last weekend as they fell to a narrow 1–0 defeat away to Bechem United. The loss halted their momentum just as they were closing in on leaders Medeama SC, leaving the defending champions five points adrift and dropping them to third on the table with 32 points after 18 matches — their sixth defeat of the campaign.

Despite that disappointment, Gold Stars remain one of the league’s most formidable home sides. The Miners boast the fourth-best home record, with seven wins and a draw, and are currently on an impressive eight-game unbeaten run at Dun’s Park. That strong home form will be central to their ambitions on Saturday as they welcome Asante Kotoko, determined to bounce back and reignite their title charge.

Asante Kotoko travel to Bibiani looking to rediscover their winning touch. The Porcupine Warriors closed out 2025 in fine fashion with three straight league victories but have stumbled slightly in the new year, going two matches without a win (D1, L1). Their latest outing ended in a frustrating goalless draw against struggling Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, a match in which Kotoko dominated possession and chances without finding a breakthrough.

That draw saw Kotoko slip to fourth place with 31 points, but they remain one of the league’s most well-rounded teams. They possess the second-best attacking record and have conceded just 11 goals — the third-lowest in the league. On the road, Kotoko rank as the third-best away side, with three wins, three draws and three defeats, and will be keen to maintain that solid away form as they chase a return to winning ways in Bibiani.

Vision FC vs Medeama

Vision FC continued their quiet rise up the Premier League table with a disciplined goalless draw away to FC Samartex 1996 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena. The result marked their third consecutive league match without conceding and extended an impressive defensive run that includes back-to-back clean-sheet victories.

Nana Kweku Agyemang’s side now sit 11th with 22 points from 18 matches, having scored 14 goals and conceded 17. Their strength, however, has been most evident at home. Vision FC remain unbeaten at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex this season, recording four wins and four draws, scoring ten goals and conceding just three. They have also kept three clean sheets in their last four home games (W1, D3) and will be confident of preserving that record against the league leaders — a side they defeated in their only previous league meeting in Tema.

Medeama SC, though, travel to the capital in formidable form. The Mauve and Yellow tightened their grip on top spot with a commanding 3–0 victory over Young Apostles in Tarkwa, opening up a five-point lead at the summit. Ibrahim Tanko’s men are currently on a remarkable 15-game unbeaten league run, comprising eight wins and seven draws.

Their title charge has been driven by firepower and balance, with a league-high 25 goals scored and just 10 conceded — the second-best defensive record after 18 matches.

Medeama have also been outstanding away from home, ranking as the league’s second-best travellers with three wins, four draws and only one defeat, their sole loss of the season.

They head to Tema on a six-game unbeaten away run (W2, D4), setting the stage for a fascinating clash between Vision’s home resilience and Medeama’s championship momentum on Saturday.
