Defending champions GoldStars FC produced a spirited performance to claim a 3–1 victory over Heart of Lions in their Premier League Week 6 clash at the Dun’s Park on Monday afternoon.

Coming into the match on the back of two consecutive league defeats, the Miners were under pressure to respond in front of their home fans — and they delivered emphatically with a commanding all-round display.

After a lively opening spell, Richard Amon Kotey broke the deadlock in the 38th minute, with a fantastic drive outside the 18-yard box.

Just moments after the restart, Sampson Eduku doubled GoldStars’ lead with a composed finish, putting the champions firmly in control of proceedings.

The visitors, however, showed resilience, and Kwadwo Obeng Junior, the former Hearts of Oak striker, pulled one back for the Lions in the 59th minute, briefly raising hopes of a comeback.

GoldStars, determined not to let the game slip away, restored their two-goal cushion eight minutes from time when substitute Samuel Atta Kumi scored from the spot to seal a crucial 3–1 win.

The victory provides a much-needed lift after recent setbacks, while also ending Heart of Lions’ unbeaten start to the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The result will come as a major boost for Yaw Amankwah's  side, who will now look to build on the momentum when they host Berekum Chelsea in an outstanding match at home on Thursday.

Eleven Wonders 0-0 Karela United

Karela United and Eleven Wonders battled to a hard-fought goalless draw in another Week 6 fixture at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Monday.

The match, though keenly contested, lacked the finishing touch as both sides squandered clear chances in front of goal.

Eleven Wonders, returning to the top flight this season, entered the match desperate to end a run of four straight defeats, but their struggles in attack continued despite enjoying long spells of possession in the early stages.

Karela maintained their composure and organization at the back, doing just enough to hold on and secure a valuable away point, extending their impressive run on the road in the league.

The result leaves Eleven Wonders still searching for their first win of the season, while Karela continue to show consistency under Nurudeen Amadu as they look to climb further up the table.
