The league leaders secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Inter Allies at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Saturday. Forward Bernard Quarcoo scored the decisive goal shortly after the break to seal all three points for his side. Port City FC have now amassed 46 points from 21 matches, strengthening their grip at the summit.
Semper Fi FC suffered a painful 1-0 defeat away to Home Stars FC on Sunday, slipping seven points behind the leaders. Boakye Yiadom’s stunning strike in the 35th minute proved to be the difference at the Ho Sports Stadium. Semper Fi remain on 39 points after 22 matches, while Home Stars climb to third place with 37 points following the victory.
Elsewhere, Accra Great Olympics moved out of the relegation zone after ending their three-game winless run (one draw, two losses) with an emphatic 3-0 victory over WAFA SC at the McDan Sports Complex in Teshie on Sunday. Frederick Akatuk opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 12th minute before adding his second goal in the 35th minute to give Olympics a comfortable two-goal lead at halftime. David Sewornu later sealed the victory with a brilliant finish in the 54th minute. Great Olympics now have 25 points from 22 matches.
