Ghana and Fulham fullback John Paintsil has admitted being frustrated during his time at West Ham and says he's happy to be away from the Hammers.

Paintsil endured a torrid time with the Hammers after struggling to establish himself at Upton Park since joining in 2006, with the majority of his 24 games coming off the bench and made just seven starts in Premier League games since joining the club.

"Fulham is a fantastic place for me to continue my career," the Ghana international told The Sun.

"I was frustrated at West Ham because I wasn't playing. As an international, sitting on the bench was not enough for me.

"I needed to go where I could get more action so, when Fulham came in, I was happy to join them because it is a great side and had a lot of prospects for me.

"I strongly disagree that we will be fighting relegation again this season.

"The coach came in late last season when the team was struggling but he turned things around.

"Now, from what I have seen so far, we are building on what we did at the end of last season and I am confident that things will be much better.

"The squad has also been made stronger. I'm confident we'll finish in the top 10 rather than be fighting relegation."

John Paintsil has completed his move to Fulham from West Ham after signing a three-year contract.
