Ghana had come under incessant attack from fans after grinding out a 1-0 win over Namibia last Thursday in the second group game at the on-going African Cup of Nations. But on Monday, everything changed completely.

The Black Stars, showing their potential and true measure gave the crowd at the Ohene Djan Stadium something to cheer about against Morocco in the final group match and capped the day’s hard work with a 2-0 victory.

After seeing the crowd get behind the team again, Ghana defender, John Paintsil says it’s good to have the passionate fans back.

“We are so happy that we got the fans back. Because we were a little bit disturbed that the fans didn’t like the way we were playing and the way we were scoring goals because they expected us to score more goals and for me even if we score one or two, what we need is the three points so they should be behind us.

“I think everyone is a professional and we know what we have to do on the pitch. In terms of football, things happen like that sometimes.

“We are happy that we’ve got the fans back. They want us to do more but we’ve promised them that we would make it. We are going to make them happy and we thank God for getting the three points that qualifies us to the quarter-finals."

The team, according to the West Ham defender is improving game after game and says they are ready for the challenges ahead.

“As we all know, the team is getting better gradually. Each game the team improves, so we have to keep our heads up and continue training hard and keeping the team spirit high.

“We are ready for any team which will come our way and we will beat any team that comes,” the Ghana defender added.
