Ransford Osei swept an important personal honour at the Africa Youth Championship in addition to Ghana’s title success.
The young striker ended the Africa Youth Championship by claiming the Golden Boot award after finishing as the top scorer with seven goals.
Osei also picked up the Samsung Fair Play Trophy, an award given to the best performer on the field after the game against Cameroon.
“Am happy for the achievements and I thank God for all these rewards,” Osei said after being presented with the awards.
The determined striker after kicking off the continental championship with no goal on the opening day never gave up as he went on to rake in seven goals from five games beginning with the second group game against Mali.
And after the game with Mali, the striker scored in every single game, extending his impressive scoring form to the last day when he notched up both goals in the final against Cameroon, the only team he had not scored against.
At the 2007 World U-17 tournament, Ransford Osei, then a member of Ghana’s U-17 side, the Black Starlets finished the competition hosted by Korea as second top scorer.
