Ghanaian full-back Daniel Opare has revealed his surprise after winning a call-up into the Black Stars squad for the upcoming games later this month.

The 20-year-old Standard Liege player, who is on-loan from Real Madrid was named by Goran Stevanovic in his 24-man squad for the games against Congo in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on 27 March and against England in a friendly two days later at the Wembley.

Opare, who missed out of Ghana's squad for the 2008 African Cup of Nations through injury at a pre-tournament camp has told GHANAsoccernet.com that the invitation into the Black Stars would rather motivate him to work harder.

“I don’t know I was being monitored by the coach but I can’t be overly excited about that. I have to continue working hard and keep my focus. This call-up means I can still achieve more in my career,” Opare said.
