One-year ban for Emmanuel Clottey

Emmanuel Clottey has been served a one-year ban by the Disciplinary Committee for breaching the Ghana Football Association’s regulations.

The player whose eligibility to play in the premier league has been declared as null and void is suspended from participating in matches and competitions organized by the FA.

“Player Emmanuel Clottey is suspended from participating in matches and competitions organized by the GFA for a period of one year for breaching GFA regulations Article 26. 3 b in line with Article 29.2 b of the GFA regulations,” the decision of the Disciplinary Committee released on Friday read.

Clottey, who turns 22 next month helped Great Olympics return to the premiership after a brief spell in the first division. He was later decorated as the goal king of the 2007 premier league season after finishing the competition with 14 goals.

But his return to the elite division with Tema Youth after stints abroad was contested by two clubs, Berekum Arsenals and Eleven Wise leading to the forfeiture of points by the Tema-based side due to his ineligibility.
