Officials, players of Nania FC charged for attacking match officials

Officials of Nania FC including some players have been charged in respect of their GN Bank Division One match against Tema Youth played on April 11 in Legon.

On or about the 89th minute when a goal was scored against Nania, these officials and players attacked the match referee physically and verbally which resulted in a hold up for about 5 minutes before play resumed after the intervention of the security personnel present contrary to the stipulations of the regulations.

Anthony Botchway – Player, Akwasi Owusu – Player, Robert Ladago –Player, Sugu Ayew – Team Manager, Salas Archie - Goalkeeper’s Coach and Seth Laryea – Secretary are each individually hereby charged for a breach of Articles 56, 58 and 59 of the Disciplinary Code and Articles 35(3)(c) and 35(7)(d) of the GFA General Regulations in respect of this match.

Also, immediately after the referee whistled for the end of the match the above mentioned officials and players and other supporters of your club attacked the match referee physically and verbally which resulted the match officials being held hostage for about thirty (30) minutes before the Police personnel from the Legon Police Station could rescue them out of the park contrary to the stipulations of the GFA Regulations.

The have therefore been each individually hereby charged again for a breach of Articles 56, 58 and 59 of the Disciplinary Code and Articles 35(3)(c) and 35(7)(d) of the GFA General Regulations in respect of this match.

They shall be expected to submit their written Statement of Defence to the charge(s) on or before Monday, May 4, 2015 on or before 5pm at the GFA Secretariat or through email address to the Disciplinary Committee, [email protected] failing which the Disciplinary Committee shall proceed to adjudicate the case without their Statement of Defence.
