The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has filed a suit of defamation against Graphic Communications Group Limited, publishers of the Graphic Sports newspaper and two of its reporters.

The Graphic Communications Group Limited is the first defendant while Graphic Sports editor, Felix Abayateye and senior reporter Andy Quao are second and third defendants joined in the suit.

According to the Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is the boss of newly promoted premiership side, Wa All Stars, a report in the bi-weekly Graphic Sports paper of Tuesday May 22 was malicious and intended to create mischief while exposing him to public ridicule.

Kwesi Nyantakyi is praying the court to award a cost of ¢2 billion against the defendants for defaming his person.

The FA President explained that the said report of the Tuesday May 22 edition of the paper suggested that his influence resulted in the dropping of a player of Division One side, Catholic Stars from the national Under-17 team.

Perro Gwalla, a member of the junior national side, the Black Starlets that participated in the African Junior Championships hosted by Togo in March, was dropped from the national side alongside other players by team coaches but his club (Catholic Stars) boss, Frank Atogyirie claimed a feud with the FA boss might have resulted in the decision to drop his boy.

Catholic Stars lost their middle league game against Wa All Stars by 3-0 but later filed and lost a protest against the Wa-based side for allegedly fielding unqualified players but lost the protest.
