The Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) has successfully held its 2025 Ordinary Congress in Tamale on Friday, October 31, 2025, bringing together club representatives, coaches, referees, and football administrators to review the previous season and outline strategic plans for the new football year.
The Congress was chaired by the Northern Regional FA Chairman, Alhaji Abu-Hassan Mahamadu (Rhyzo). In his opening remarks, Chairman Rhyzo applauded stakeholders for their dedication and resilience throughout the past season, emphasizing the region’s continuous growth in talent development and competition organization. He reaffirmed the NRFA’s commitment to providing strong leadership and advancing football development across all districts in the region.
Representing the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, was GFA Executive Council member Eugene Noel Nobel. In delivering the President’s message, Mr. Nobel commended the NRFA leadership for their consistency in driving grassroots football and maintaining active competitions despite challenges. He reiterated the GFA’s unwavering support for regional football, highlighting ongoing investments in youth development, coaching education, refereeing reforms, and infrastructure under the FIFA Forward initiative.
Mr. Nobel assured clubs of continued logistical and technical assistance from the GFA, noting that the Association remains focused on empowering regional bodies as the foundation of Ghana’s football ecosystem. He called on all stakeholders to remain united, disciplined, and committed to strengthening the sport at the community level.
During the session, delegates discussed the upcoming football calendar, compliance with regulations, and measures to enhance matchday organization and officiating standards. Chairman Rhyzo stressed the need for clubs to maintain professionalism, avoid acts of hooliganism, and embrace digital administrative systems being rolled out by the GFA to ensure transparency and efficiency in the game.
The Congress concluded with renewed enthusiasm and a shared commitment to driving competitive football, nurturing young talent, and creating opportunities for players and clubs across the Northern Region. Stakeholders left the venue confident of a vibrant and successful 2025/26 football season in the region.
