Achiken FC put in a great work to hold leaders Samartex to a goalless draw on Match Day 11 of the Division One League on Sunday.

The bottom placed club were written off completely ahead of the game following their abysmal performance in the competition thus far as they sit at the foot of the Zone Two table with only 8 points from a possible 33.

Samartex FC have won 8, drawn 3 3 and lost none as they lead the table with 27 points – 4 points ahead of second placed New Edubiase and 5 points richer than Ebusua Dwarfs who are in third place.

The Sameraboi side will aim for a win when they return home to play Swedru All Blacks at the Samartex Park. All Blacks are 7th in the table with 16 points having picked 5 wins, 5 defeats and one draw in the on-going League. They are 11 points adrift of the top and seeking to maintain their status in the second tier. But to beat Samartex away will be a difficult one as they have conceded only two goals in 11 Division One League matches.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Ansah and his guardsmen as well as Hannan Abdul, Prince Antwi and Gideon Oduro have done a stellar job for the Timber giants who lead the table with 27 points after 11 League matches.

A win for Samartex will further tighten their grip on the first spot but Swedru All Blacks won’t come cheap despite their inconsistent away record in the League.

Second placed New Edubiase United who beat Wassaman FC 3-0 last weekend will play as guest of Bekwai Youth Football Academy at the Nana Gyamfi Park on Sunday.

Title chasers Ebusua Dwarfs recorded a 1-0 away win over Holy Royals to continue their surge in the League table, five points off the top and would aim to continue their winning run against Nzema Kotoko at the Robert Mensah Park at Cape Coast.

In other matches, Soccer Intellectuals welcomes giants Hasaacas to the Ajumako Assasan Park on Sunday while Skyy FC plays Basake Holy Stars at St. Martins Park.
