Sulley Muntari’s phenomenal strike from 30-yards in the 89th minute ensured that Ghana picked up the three points in the opening African Cup of Nations match against Guinea in Group A on Sunday.

After hitting that goal, Muntari could not describe his feelings as his strike triggered quite an incredible explosion of joy in the Ohene Djan stadium.

"I can't describe how I felt scoring the winning goal.

"I came close before then but I kept trying till it went in! It's too early though to say whether we will go on to be champions," he said.

Ghana raced into the lead through Asamoah Gyan who scored from a spot kick some six minutes into the second half after Junior Agogo had been fouled in the box.

The home crowd, who had been cheering on the Black Stars right from the start had their celebrations halted in the 65th minute when Guinea equalised.

Kalabane Oumar, the culprit for the penalty, levelled before from a corner kick before Muntari worked his magic for Ghana, striking a long-range that flew past the diving Guinea goalkeeper and headed into the top-right corner to hand the host a deserved win with a minute to end the game.
