The MTN FA Cup Committee has settled on the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi as the venue for the 2021/22 MTN FA cup final on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

As part of the rotational policy, different cities have in recent times hosted the MTN FA Cup final – dating back to 2014/2015 when the final of the Cup competition was for the first time held outside Accra - Medeama SC beat Asante Kotoko 2-1 at the Essipong stadium to win their first domestic title.

Bechem United beat Okwahu United in the 2015/16 final in Cape Coast before Tamale had its turn in October 2017 when Asante Kotoko beat their rivals Accra Hearts of Oak 3-1 at the Aliu Mahama stadium to win their 9th Cup title.

Four Premier League clubs, namely, Aduana FC, holders Accra Hearts of Oak, 2015/16 winners Bechem United and Dreams FC are the teams that are pushing for a place in the final.

Hearts of Oak will play Dreams FC at the Accra Sports stadium on Saturday, May 14 while Bechem United and Aduana clash in the other semi-final encounter at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

The Winner of the MTN FA Cup will represent Ghana in next season’s Total Energies CAF Confederation Cup.

Accra Hearts of Oak are the reigning champions having defeated AshantiGold SC 8-7 in a frantic penalty shoutout in the 2020/21 final at the Accra Sports stadium.
