Northern Region produced a spirited performance to hand Eastern Region their first defeat of the MTN Elite U19 Championship, claiming a narrow 1–0 victory at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
The decisive moment came in the 60th minute, when Mubashir Wumpini Kamil broke the deadlock with a composed finish to give Northern Region their second win of the campaign. His impressive display earned him the Player of the Match award, capping off a memorable morning for both the player and his team.
The result brought an end to Eastern Region’s perfect start to the tournament after three straight wins, but they still remain top of Group A with nine points. Northern Region’s victory, however, lifts them to second place on six points, moving above Brong Ahafo, who have a game in hand.
Running from October 23 to November 2, 2025, the MTN Elite U19 Championship brings together ten regional teams from across Ghana in a showcase of youthful talent and potential. The competition provides a crucial platform for the nation’s brightest young footballers to gain exposure, develop their skills, and attract attention from national youth team coaches and professional scouts.
