Brong Ahafo made a blistering start to their campaign in the MTN Elite U19 Championship, recording an emphatic 5–0 victory over Northern Region on Saturday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Forward Adu Bame Kingsford led the charge with a brilliant brace, opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 10th minute before doubling his tally in the 24th minute to give Brong Ahafo full control of the game. Striker Osei Owusu Michael extended the lead in the 41st minute, capping off a dominant first-half display.
The second half saw Brong Ahafo continue their relentless attacking play, with Player of the match Gideon Otabil adding a fourth goal before substitute Dankwa Obed sealed the comprehensive victory in injury time.
Despite their strong start to the competition, Northern Region, who defeated Western Region in their opening match, struggled to cope with Brong Ahafo’s intensity and creativity throughout the encounter.
The MTN Elite U19 Championship, which runs from October 23 to November 2, 2025, features ten Regional Football Association (RFA) U-19 teams from across Ghana.
The competition provides a vital platform for the nation’s most promising young footballers to display their talent, gain valuable experience, and catch the attention of national youth team selectors and professional scouts.
Proudly sponsored by MTN Ghana, the tournament underscores the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to youth football development, offering a structured pathway for emerging talents to progress from grassroots level to the national and professional stages.
Brong Ahafo’s five-star performance sends a strong message to their rivals and sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting campaign in this year’s championship.
