Greater Accra will launch their 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship campaign on Wednesday as Matchday Two serves up a series of intriguing encounters, with group leaders and early strugglers all looking to make their mark at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.
Greater Accra, who finished third in last year’s championship, face an immediate test when they come up against a confident Upper East Region in the opening fixture of Matchday Two.
Upper East will enter the encounter full of confidence after an impressive 4-2 victory over Northern Region in their opening Group B game. Their attacking performance and strong start have placed them at the top of the group on goal difference, and they will be keen to maintain that momentum against a Greater Accra side beginning its campaign.
For Greater Accra, the objective will be clear: start strongly and lay down an early marker in a competition where they will be expected to challenge for the title.
The encounter kicks off at 8:00am.
Northern, Central, battle for first points
The second Group B fixture will see Northern Region take on Central Region in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter.
Both teams suffered defeats in their opening matches, leaving them desperate to get their campaigns back on track. Northern were beaten 4-2 by Upper East, while Central Region suffered a 2-0 defeat to Brong Ahafo.

Western Region enter fray against champions
Attention will then shift to Group A, where Western Region will play their first match of the championship against defending champions Eastern Region at 2pm local time.

The defending champions suffered a narrow 3-2 loss to Upper West Region in their first match and will be looking for an immediate response as they attempt to defend their crown.
For Western, a positive result would provide the perfect platform for their campaign, while Eastern know that another setback could leave their title defence under serious pressure.
Upper West face Volta in final match
The day’s action will conclude with another fascinating Group A encounter as leaders Upper West Region take on Volta Region.
Upper West sit at the summit after their thrilling 3-2 victory over defending champions Eastern Region and will be determined to build on that impressive start.
Volta, meanwhile, will be looking to secure their first victory after their opening-day draw with Ashanti Region. The two sides have already demonstrated their attacking capabilities, making this a potentially entertaining contest.
