Eastern Region and Greater Accra Region have taken early control of their respective groups after an exciting opening day of the MTN Elite U-19 Championship, which kicked off on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
In Group A, Eastern Region stormed to the top of the standings with a resounding 5–2 victory over Upper West Region. Their dominant display saw them collect all three points and establish themselves as early favourites in the group. Northern Region sit in second place after edging Western Region 1–0 in a tightly contested match.
Western and Upper West are yet to register a point, while Brong Ahafo Region will begin their campaign on Saturday when they take on Northern Region in their opening fixture.
Over in Group B, Greater Accra Region lead the table following a commanding 4–0 triumph over Upper East Region. The capital-based side delivered a convincing performance to underline their title ambitions. Ashanti Region follow closely in second place, also on three points, after rallying from behind to defeat Volta Region 3–1.
Volta and Upper East remain without a point, while Central Region are set to face Greater Accra on Matchday Two, scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025.
The 11-day championship, which runs from October 23 to November 2, 2025, features ten Regional Football Association (RFA) U-19 teams from across the country.
The tournament serves as a vital platform for Ghana’s most promising young footballers to showcase their talents, gain valuable experience, and attract attention from national youth team coaches and professional scouts.
