AshantiGold continued with their impressive form in the MTN/CAF Champions League competition after beating Royal Armed Forces 2-0 in the second round eliminator at the Len Clay stadium in Obuasi.

The Miners got both goals in the second half after the ending the first half goalless.

Striker, Shaibu Yakubu opened the scoring for AshantiGold from a spot kick early in the second half before his strike partner, Alex Asamoah doubled their lead with a minute to go in injury time.

The win puts the Miners in good stead for qualification into the group stages with the return leg scheduled for Rabat in a fortnight’s time.

In the Confederation Cup, Tema Youth failed to travel to Cameroon to play their first match in the Confederations Cup against Astres de Douala.

The club who would have been playing their debut continental game after drawing a bye to play in the second round qualifiers say their travel plans were botched at the last minute.

Cameroon Football Federation officials say Tema Youth had been expected on Thursday but they then missed their scheduled training on Saturday and the official pre-match meeting on Saturday night.

Africa’s soccer governing body, CAF would be handing in a ruling on this matter.
