Milovan Rajevec has named a 21-man squad for his first competitive game in charge of Ghana, with Libya the opponents in Tripoli on September 5.

The squad would represent Ghana for the penultimate 2010 African Nations Cup and World Cup Group 5 qualifying match against Libya.

Despite the absence of John Mensah and Asamoah Gyan, Milovan Rajevec’s squad has been boosted with the availability of Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah, who returns to the squad for the first time since November last year.

Appiah had been on the sidelines with an injury.

Jonathan Quartey, Agyemang Badu and Kojo Poku, all who were part of the team that played in Ghana’s friendly against Tanzania last week keep their places in the squad while Samuel Inkoom and Eric Bekoe also earn call ups.

Speaking about the squad, Milovan Rajevac said: “I was happy with what I saw against Tanzania. We missed some regular players there (game against Tanzania) but this is a big game and we expect to have everyone available.”

“Everybody registered as a Ghanaian player has got a chance. I will monitor players from the Ghanaian league and the foreign-based players in their respective leagues. I don’t intend to build a new team or make a big change but it is a fresh beginning for all. There will be equal opportunities for all.”

Ghana beat Libya in the first leg match in Group 5 3-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in June.
