Ghana hopeful of starting off with a win at the All Africa Games today when they line up against South Africa.

A late fixture change has seen Ghana placed in Group A from Group B after Libya and Madagascar failed to turn up for the tournament.

Shakes Mashaba's side have already won their opening game, a 3-1 win over hosts Mozambique and the Black Meteors would be aiming to get off to a win as well in Group A.

Despite the fixture changes, which has disrupted plans, coach of the Black Meteors Kwesi Appiah is confident that his charges would be ready for the task.

“Assessing our boys’ mentality I believe they can rise to the occasion. So far, the boys have been doing very well, coping with the tactics and everything that we’ve been doing on the pitch. We’ve tried to psyche the players up and so I believe we will rise to the occasion and try to defend the name of Ghana,” Appiah said.

Appiah has named a strong line up for the opener as he hopes to get a good result.

Ghana’s line-up:

Daniel Agyei, Augustine Sefa, Ahmed Adams, Mumuni Abubakar, Richard Mpong, Francis Morton, Alhaji Sanie, Prince Baffoe, Uriah Asante, Mahatma Otoo, Rashid Sumaila
