Ghana defender, John Mensah has given a positive report of his injury in the run up to the start of the French Ligue 1 this weekend.

Mensah, picked up a calf injury during training with his new club, Olympique Lyon but the Ghanaian player says he is ready for the new season with the French Champions telling www.ghanafa.org that: “it’s nothing to worry about.”

The Ghanaian defender started with low runs on Wednesday and is hopeful of being ready for the new campaign.

“What happened was just a minor injury and the recovery has been well so far.

“I was advised by our (Lyon) medical team to stay off for ten days and hopefully I should be back by this week.

“I’m feeling better and hopefully I will be back very soon. It is nothing to worry about.”

Mensah missed out of the Trophee des Champions for Lyon last weekend, a match between the league champions and Cup winners which precedes the start of the new season.

However the Black Stars defender might be handed a starting place when Lyon attempt the defence of their title beginning this Sunday in their Ligue 1 home fixture against Toulouse.
