Ghana captain John Mensah is happy with the squad depth of the Black Stars ahead of the 2012 African Nations Cup.

The Black Stars, who have been seeded for the competition in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea beginning January 21 to February 12 reached the finals after qualifying from Group I where they went unbeaten.

Mensah, who scored his debut senior goal in the final qualifier, a 2-0 victory over Sudan last Saturday says he is happy with the squad depth and believes it presents Goran Stevanovic with lots of options.

The emergence of players like Mohammed Abu, Massawudu Alhassan and Albert Adomah who all played in the goalless draw friendly against Nigeria on Tuesday night means, Ghana can deal with the absence of regulars by moving on with such quality additions, Mensah told Joy fm.

"He [Stevanovic] couldn't get them in the game [Nations Cup qualifier] against Sudan but this [game with Nigeria] friendly game made him feature them and see if he needed them at anytime, he can know who to call," Mensah said.

"So I think it's the coach's decision and I think they also delivered and didn't disgrace themselves.

"They did well so I think they should keep the good work and at the end of the day the coach will decide."

Ghana are awaiting to discover their group opponents at the 2012 CAN after being placed in Group B.
