Ghana defender John Mensah expects the national side to dominate African football.

The Black Stars, the continents top-ranked team are placed 15th in the world following their excellent showing at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and a runners-up finish at the recent African Cup of Nations in Angola.

Mensah, captain of the senior side believes the past successes can fuel their collective desire to hold onto their position as Africa's best team.

“Ghana is now the best team in Africa because of our hard work in South Africa and in Angola at the African Cup of Nations,” he said.

“We all know what we can do. Any team we play against, we make sure we do our best to get the victory and we are close as a team.

“Whenever we meet we stay together, crack jokes and make sure everyone is satisfied and happy.

“There is nothing bad in the squad; we have the right attitude to play every game. When new players come in they may be quiet, but we talk to them about anything you can think of.

“If a player doesn’t feel confident then they cannot play to their maximum, so we try to help everyone.”
