Ghana captain John Mensah has revealed his excitement after getting on the scoresheet for the first time for the Black Stars.

Mensah scored Ghana's second goal of the afternoon in the 2-0 defeat of Sudan to qualify for the 2012 African Nations Cup after Asamoah Gyan had put the Black Stars in the lead.

“[It was a] very important goal in my career with Ghana's Black Stars as it is my first time to score for the national team, so l am very happy [to] score the goal that sealed victory for Ghana," said Mensah after the game in Omdurman on Saturday.

Ghana are now through to the finals of the competition next year in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
