The Confederation of African Football says Black Stars captain, John Mensah is only suspended for Thursday’s semi-final game.

Ghana play Cameroon in the first semi-final match of the African Cup of Nations at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Thursday.

A CAF Disciplinary Board statement signed by its chairman, Raymond Hack stated that: “for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity to his opponent, the player no. 5, Mensah John was expelled and he is automatically suspended (CDC, art. 128.1. a) for the next match namely the semi-final match no. 29 scheduled to be played in Accra on 7th February 2008.”

“Furthermore, CAF Disciplinary Board decided to impose a financial sanction of $5000 into (CDC art. 128.2.) for the offensive behavior of your player john Mensah.”

CAF’s decision clears the defender to play in the finals of the tournament if Ghana advance past the last four stage.

John Mensah was sent off in the 65th minute of Ghana’s quarter-final match against Nigeria on Sunday.
