Scans conducted on Ghana defender, John Paintsil has passed him fit to play in the remaining African Cup of Nations matches after picking up a knock to the head on Sunday.

The defender is one of the 23 players who remain in contention for places in Claude Le Roy’s starting team for Thursday’s second Group A match against Namibia.

However, the Ghana Football Association together with the medical team of the Black Stars in their bid to double-check the player’s condition have put him through a Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test.

“John Paintsil has been declared fit to play in our remaining games. But he is undergoing an MRI scan. This is just to double-check his condition first,” FA spokesperson, Randy Abbey explained.

The MRI test is primarily used in medical imaging to visualize the structure and function of the body.

Wednesday’s scan on Paintsil would seek to provide detailed images of the head after having undergone an earlier computerized tomography Scan (CT) which did not detect any neurological deficits.

Paintsil was carried off the field after complaining of dizziness at the end of Ghana's 2-1 victory over Guinea at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Sunday. Checks were immediately done for head injuries but there were no negative reports.
