Medeama SC would aim to make it three wins from three games when they host Berekum Chelsea at the Akoon Park at Tarkwa on Match Day 12 of the Ghana Premier League on Friday.

The mauves and yellow who ended the winning run of Aduana FC in a 1-0 win at home travelled to Obuasi to inflict a 1-0 win over AshantiGold on Monday with Ebenezer Ackahbi scoring the only goal of the match at the Len Clay stadium.

The win lifted Medeama up the table to 5th with 18 points – 5 points behind leaders King Faisal but with a game in hand. The home side have not scored more than 2 in the entire season with the only 2 goal margin coming against Karela United on Match Day four.

The team is currently in a rebuilding exercise after losing a number of first team players to Premier League opponents in the summer transfer window. Regular shot stopper Eric Ofori Antwi, right back Samuel Appiah, midfielders Richard Boadu and Eric Kwakwa joined Legon Cities, Asante Kotoko and Aduana FC respectively.

Ghanaian International Justice Blay has added insults to injury by joining Asante Kotoko on a free having come to the end of his contract. The Tarkwa lads have scored 7 and conceded 6 due to erratic shooting and lack of creativity in the heart of the pitch.

Seasoned campaigners Amed Toure, Prince Opoku Agyemang, Kwasi Donsu and Rashid Nortey have yet to lite up the competition and that has generally affected the performance of the team in the League.

Berekum Chelsea drew blank against Great Olympics on Monday to take the number of draws to three having conceded 9 and scored 7 after 11 matches.

The former League champions have been uninspiring on the road having lost 4 and drawn 1 in five away matches – as they began the season with a 1-0 loss to Bibiani Gold Stars , before falling Karela United (2-1), Hearts of Oak (2-0) and Aduana FC (3-2) with the only draw thus far coming against Eleven Wonders at Techiman.

The match which is scheduled for 3pm at the Akoon Park on Friday will be shown live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247 and Max TV.
