Medeama SC will face South African Premier Soccer League side Mamelodi Sundowns in the final preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Confederations of African Football (CAF) made the draw on Thursday, which will see Medeama visit the South African league leaders for the first leg between 6 and 8 of May in Durban, before welcoming them the following weekend for the second leg at the Essipong Stadium.
Medeama are Ghana’s sole representatives in this year’s CAF inter-club competition after the elimination of Ashantigold from the Champions League in the preliminary round.
Medeama have so far scaled two hurdles, edging out Libyan side Al Ittihad and Sudanese side Al Shandy in previous rounds.
Medeama are seeking to qualify to the group stage of the Confederations Cup, a feat which no Ghanaian side has not achieved since Accra Hearts of Oak beat Asante Kotoko to win the inaugural Confederations Cup in 2004.
