One of the favourites to the title, Medeama hope to overcome their slow start in the Glo Premier League after going down to their second defeat yesterday.

The Tarkwa side, smarting from their 1-0 defeat on Sunday to Aduana Stars welcome Liberty Professionals to the Sekondi Sports Stadium on match-day-3.

Though acknowledging that they have not started well, Board member of Medeama, Mohammed Alhassan insists the off-season tournament, the G8, did not only help prepare them for the league but left them with injuries to six key players.

"The G8 was good for our preparations but it also affected us, we have many injuries to deal with which has affected our slow start," Alhassan said on Monday.

"But with the players coming back from injury, we hope to do well."

Alhassan believes Medeama is improving and would only get better as the season progresses.

"We had no cause to lose the opening game [defeat to Wa All Stars] but we did all we had to do against Aduana.

"We would do well to win the league. We have seen our mistakes early and it is good for us. Two matches [defeats], we have got about 28 to go so it's no problem.

"We would not take Liberty likely even though we have a good record against them. With all our players coming back, we have no problem. We would take it game by game and beat them one after the other."
