McCarthy, Boadu, Sedan score for AshantGold in six goal thriller against Elmina Sharks

Ashanti Gold SC recorded their first victory of the season as they came from behind to beat Elmina Sharks FC 4-2 in a match five encounter on Sunday.

Appiah MCarthy’s absolute beauty of a free kick sealed victory for the miners as he capped off a fine afternoon at the Len Clay stadium. Dacosta Boadu, scored brace before with David Abagna Sandan also on target for the Obuasi lads.

The Miners win hands Elmina Sharks their first defeat of the season after going unbeaten in the first four matches.

Ashanti Gold coach Milovan Cirkovic made four changes to his squad with Robert Dabuo replacing Mohamed Bailou in post.

Atta Kusi also took the place of Kwadwo Amoako at right back. While, Dacosta Boadu came in for injured Hans Kwofie. Former Dreams FC captain Abdul Bashiru paved way for Roland Amouzou.

For Elmina Sharks, Daniel Nii Adjei was handed his first start in Sharks shirt as he replaced Benjamin Arthur.

The visitors opened the scoring of the match as early as the 3rd minute after Benjamin Bernard Boateng benefited from a goalkeeping howler to slot home.

Ashanti Gold levelled things up two minutes after recess from a brilliant free-kick delivered by Appiah McCarthy.

Boadu netted his debut goal in the 62nd and 68 minutes of the game to hand the home side a well-deserved win. He first scored from a fine header and also nodded home a cross from Togolese left back Amouzou in the 68th minute.

Sharks pulled one back five minutes from full-time through Benjamin Tweneboah.

Midfielder David Abagna Sandan put the icing on the cake in the 90th minute following a free-kick from McCarthy.
