Changes could occur at the summit of the table after the weekend’s round of matches, the match-day-9 fixtures, of the Onetouch Premier League are played.

The weekend’s round of matches begin on Saturday at the El-Wak Stadium where Real Sportive would attempt to end the three-game winning run by AshantiGold.

Though a difficult mission, a point off the Miners would be welcome news for the Tema-based side.

A nervy start to the New Year has seen Asante Kotoko’s lead at the top of the table cut completely as they remain pegged on points.

Yet the Reds could have their continuous stay at the summit ended for the first time this season when they welcome Liberty Professionals to the Coronation Park on Sunday.

Liberty are six points adrift of Kotoko and would arrive in Sunyani with enough confidence after their high-scoring 6-2 win over Real Tamale United in midweek. But the Reds are tipped to pull a win.

Then one of the biggest games of the weekend comes up at the Kpando Park where joint league leaders, Heart of Lions, take on Hearts of Oak. The Phobians look like a rejuvenated side after recording a win in midweek but against the Lions, it could be a much more difficult task for the defending champions to surmount.

The Tamale Sports Stadium – one of the four match venues for the African Cup of Nations – would be opened to football action as Real Tamale United test the facility with a home game against Kessben FC.

RTU, smarting from a painful 6-2 loss in midweek would try to make amends and add up to the misery of the Kumasi-based team who have picked up two consecutive defeats.

Berekum Arsenals would be at home to Tema Youth, who are second from bottom at the Golden City Park. The Gunners, after a slow start have warmed themselves into the league and now occupy the third spot as they are expected to maintain their fine form against Tema Youth.

After defeat on Wednesday, All Stars return to the Wa Park where they battle Sekondi Hasaacas. The Blues have remained inconsistent in their premiership debut though they remain favourites to pick the three maximum points.

Zaytuna FC, also premiership debutants, who have recorded unpredictable results would be at home to King Faisal at the Carl Reindorf Park.

Then bottom side, Accra Great Olympics, still searching for their first win of the season welcome Gamba All Blacks to the El-Wak Stadium.

The Wonder Boys might just be lucky this time as they host the Black Magicians. But the away side can still run away with victory.
