Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League: Champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies win big to end first round on a high

Champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies defeated Ashtown Ladies 4-0 to end the first round of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League on a high. The result puts them in a good place having dropped points against Supreme Ladies on Matchday 8. Ashtown Ladies started the well and held their visitors to an equal game but that didn’t last as Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah scored in the 43rd minute to give Ampem Darkoa the lead before going into recess. The Techiman based side scored three quick fire goals in the second half to end the game 4:0 – their sixth win in the campaign as they climb back to the top of the League table.

Northern Ladies defeated arch rivals Pearl pia Ladies 4-0 in the regional derby at the Aliu Mahama stadium. The host have been inconsistent in their performance while the visitors sat at the top of the table going into this fixture. Seidu Faiza opened the scoring in the 5th minute of the game as Northern Ladies made their early dominance count in their favour. Back from the recess, they scored three goals in the second half to win the derby. This result takes Northern Ladies above the relegation zone whilst Peral Pia Ladies drop to the second position.

Prisons Ladies hosted strugglers, Fabulous Ladies at the Sunyani Coronation Park. Fabulous found the ball in the back of their own net through Millicent Obeng in the 3rd minute to give their host the lead. Princess owusu drew parity for Fabulous Ladies right before half time whistle but that wasn’t enough to get them a point as Helena Obeng scored to restore the lead for the host – ending the game 2:1 in favor of Prisons Ladies.
