Legon Cities score late to beat Liberty Professionals

Jonah Attuquaye scored late as Legon Cities came from behind to beat Liberty Professionals 2-1 on match day 24 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports stadium.

The Citizens, whose previous encounter against Ebusua Dwarfs ended abruptly, dominated the opening stages of the match pinning the scientific soccer lads to their half.

Liberty Professionals winger Abraham Wayo came close to breaking the deadlock in the 15th minute but Cities goalkeeper Winfred Honu to keep the score sheet clean.

Ten minutes later Victorian Adebayor came up with a good chance to put Legon Cities ahead he was denied by Captain Kofi Baah – in post for Liberty Professionals as the first half ended goalless.

Back from recess, Liberty Professionals the lead through Kweku Karikari in the 80th minute – But the lead was cut short few minutes later as Baba Mahama got the equalizer for Legon Cities.

With just a few seconds to end the game, Jonah Attuquaye grabbed the winner for Legon Cities in injury time to secure a vital win for The Royals.

The win lifts Legon Cities to 15th place in the League log with 26 points – one point ahead of Liberty Professionals who sit 16th with 25 points.
