Fresh from the talk about Ghana’s 2010 World Cup draw, the mood this weekend across the country will be fixed on the Glo Premier League.

Seven matches will come off but the top of the pick is the clash between the rivals in Accra.

The two best teams in Ghana’s elite football history will battle each other in the eagerly anticipated big game this Sunday.

Hearts of Oak, reigning champions are level on points with Asante Kotoko, 10 apiece and occupy the 13th and 11th spots in that order on the standings as they both struggle to cope with the early season’s pace.

After an off season of huge spending on players and changes to their technical teams, both sides are yet to represent value for money as their form and results clearly dents their ambition.

But as they ready to square up in the first round of the season’s biggest game, either side will be trying to establish themselves as the most successful club.

Surprisingly, though, no side is considering themselves as the underdogs as their form appears to put them on an even keel.

Defeat will certainly not ruin either sides league chances but it will prove crucial come the end of the season.

It all bodes well for a mouth-watering clash at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Sunday.

Aside the big game in Accra, the weekend’s round of games throws up some interesting fixtures.

Kessben FC, who are four points clear at the top can extend their lead when debutants, Aduana Stars visit the Anane Boateng Stadium.

AshantiGold’s top four place remains under threat as the Miners travel to Tamale where they take on Real Tamale United.

Bottom placed Eleven Wise faces a big test in Kpando against Heart of Lions. The Sekondi-based side after an impressive return to the premiership last season has struggled for form this term as they have 7 points to show for their displays from a possible 24.

Hasaacas, another Sekondi-based side who are also struggling in the bottom three of the league will to put up a good show when an in-form All Stars side visits the Sekondi Stadium.

King Faisal will welcome Great Olympic to the Baba Yara Stadium while New Edubiase host Chelsea at the Len Clay Stadium.

The game between Liberty Professionals and Berekum Arsenals has rescheduled to Thursday, December 17, 2009 as the Dansoman side are engaged in the sub-regional competition, the WAFU tournament.
